Guitar/Bass Lessons
Guitar or Bass Lessons for Beginner to Intermediate with a specialty in Rock, Blues, Metal, Punk, Pop, and Folk genres.
Lessons are custom tailored to the student based on their goals, music interests, and learning style. Lessons can range from following along with instructional books or learning the student’s favorite songs. It’s up to the student what path they choose to take. My job is to guide the student toward their goals while teaching them the necessary skills to get there.
I always say, “Rock Guitar is way different than Classical Guitar and shouldn’t be approached the same.”
Beginner students will learn the fundamentals, including:
- Basic Music Theory (Pitch & Rhythm)
- Tuning
- Proper Technique
After that it’s all up to you!
Intermediate students may explore things like:
- Picking Techniques
- Fingerstyle Picking
- Palm Muting
- Pinch Harmonics
- Guitar Soloing
- Rhythm Guitar
- Purchasing
- Care and Maintenance
- Amplifiers
- Effects
- Playing in a Band
- Finding a Band to Join
- Playing Live
These are very important things to learn that are often overlooked in traditional lessons.
First Lesson:
The first lesson covers getting to know the student. This will assist in tailoring the lessons to the individual. I’ll ask questions about their experience with music, their interests in music, their learning style and what their current goals are with their chosen instrument.
I will then recommend any supplemental learning materials, additional things they may need and a practice regimen.
